This being said, I have a lot of affection towards Beirut, to which we came from our villages at the beginning of the seventies, feeling that we could change the world. This is a beautiful illusion, and I have not regrets.

But if the majority of Sunnis are on the streets, this does not mean that it’s about religion. Among the activists who mobilize and organize demonstrations, there also are Alawites and Christians. This is not a confessional conflict.
